| April 26, 2019 2:24 PM

Randy Knight passed away unexpectedly from a heart condition on December 20, 2018 at the Loma Linda University hospital in California, where he had been spending the winter. Randy, a longtime resident of Wallace, was born in Pullman, Washington on May 5, 1955. He attended Pullman public schools, graduating in 1973 from Pullman High School, and earned an Engineering degree from Washington State University in 1985. He was a registered Professional Civil Engineer in Washington, Idaho and Montana, and a registered Engineering Geologist in Washington state. He operated a consulting business in the Inland Northwest for more than 25 years.

In his younger years, he lived an adventurous lifestyle working as a cab driver in Seattle, a king crab fishermen on the Bering Sea in Alaska, an oil rig worker in New Mexico, a geologist in Wyoming, and Alaska, a transportation engineer in California and Nevada, and a Pend Oreille county engineer in Newport, Washington.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Randy lived in Spokane. He moved to Wallace in 2005 and traveled back and forth to Spokane to help care for his mother, Audrey Knight, until her death in 2014.

Randy enjoyed building, and riding bicycles, videography, reading, cooking, gardening, and wilderness activities. He loved traveling with his dear friends Sheila Pachernegg and Gerry Schuldt, as well as home building projects with his brother Kim.

Randy leaves behind his siblings, Donna Knight-Staton in Juneau, Alaska, Kim Knight in Coeur d’ Alene, and Gary Knight in Salem, OR., as well as former wives Amy Larson and Sheila Pachernegg, both whom remained good friends with him at the time of his death. Randy also left behind his favorite dogs, Chevy and Kira.

A celebration of life is being planned at noon on Saturday May 4th at Randy’s home, 126 Mine Ave. in Wallace. We were hoping to spread Randy’s ashes near his favorite bicycle path, share some stories, and hopefully have a toast for him at the City Limits Pub, 108 Nine Mile Rd. in Wallace.

Randy was such a wonderful, loving and caring person. He’ll be missed.
