Meet your new zipline owners

WALLACE — A new era in the legacy of Silver Streak Zipline began earlier this year after the popular tourist attraction went under new management.

After visiting the area for years, Scott Haney and his wife Gina decided to move their family to the area and after purchasing their home, they began looking for a successful turn-key style business that was for sale. Following a brief search, they found a gem in the form of Silver Streak.

“We just loved the area,” Haney said. “We looked at a few businesses, including one in Spokane Valley and then we came across this. My wife had tried to go last year when we were here and they were booked solid. We saw it was for sale and after came out and looked at it, we fell in love with the mountain.”

A self-proclaimed recovering attorney, Haney has no prior experience in the world of super speedy tourism, but he and his family have stepped in gracefully and continued the proud tradition of being a visitor hot spot.

“My new office is much better than my last one,” Haney said with a laugh.

While learning the ropes (pun intended) of their new venture has been fairly smooth, they credit a lot of it to the people they get to coexist with.

“First and foremost, the people here are terrific,” Haney said. “We are pretty non-controversial people. We come to work, we go home and the people here are the same way.”

While ownership may have changed, nothing about the business really did, which is exactly the way that Haney wanted it.

“We aren’t planning any changes right now,” Haney said. “We have some ideas for things we might add, but right now the only change we’ve made is we’re using six-person UTVS to shuttle our customers up to the top instead of the Suburbans which they seem to enjoy.”

One of Haney’s favorite parts of owning a zipline is sitting in silence with people as they head up the hill and then hearing them gush on their way back down after going through the course.

Silver Streak Zipline Tours offers a total of 10 ziplines on 250 acres of privately owned, undisturbed, mountainous terrain.
