Meet your new Kellogg Middle School principal

KELLOGG — A new era is set to begin at Kellogg Middle School with new principal Dan Davidian at the helm.

Davidian is a career educator who worked his way from Fresno, Calif., to the West Ada School District in Boise, before heading north to join the Kellogg School District.

“I’m so excited to be up here,” Davidian said. “The people, the area, the community — it’s all been so great.”

Davidian had been working at Eagle Academy near Boise, but was in the West Ada School District for the last 13 years.

Eagle Academy is an alternative high school, which is also a feather in the cap for Davidian, as he has experience with at-risk youth.

“I’ve had, I guess it’s whatever we call ‘normal’ students, but alternative students have really been my gig,” Davidian said.

After his son’s graduation, Davidian thought the time was right for him to begin looking at jobs outside the Boise area, and after numerous trips to the northern part of the state and then seeing an opening at KMS, he decided to apply.

“My wife and I have been coming up here for years for sports like baseball and soccer tournaments,” Davidian said. “We just love North Idaho. Seeing and knowing the area, as well as loving made a big difference on our decision.”

Davidian was hired officially in May, but didn’t have an official start date until just a few weeks ago.

A self-proclaimed “pro-teacher guy,” Davidian is excited to begin working with his staff and is especially excited to be working under another pro-teacher leader in Dr. Nancy Larsen.

“Dr. Larsen is just phenomenal. I knew when I interviewed that she was somebody that I would love to work for,” Davidian said. “You can just feel things like that, especially in education. I’m so excited to work with this group, we have an awesome group of teachers and staff here.”

As mentioned, Davidian is thrilled to be here and hopes to make the Kellogg School District his home for the foreseeable future.

“I’m so content to be here,” Davidian said. “My history has been that wherever I go, I try to stay put. I don’t look at this place as a stepping stone. I came here with the intent to stay and help build up this community.”
