Dorothy Jean Miller, 82

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Miller, 82, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away Dec. 10, 2019, at Mountain Valley of Cascadia in Kellogg, Idaho. She was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Kellogg. Dorothy was the daughter of Alvie and Helen (Heikkila) McGillivray.

Dorothy has lived in the Silver Valley all of her life. She attended and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1956.

Dorothy married James Miller on June 22, 1956, in Kellogg. James passed away in August 1997.

Dorothy and her husband James, had owned and operated Miller’s Food City in Cataldo for many years. They also owned and operated the Third Generation Restaurant in Cataldo along with their son, Virgil. She then served as a grocery clerk at Barney’s Foods in Pinehurst for more than 20 years, before her retirement.

Dorothy loved and enjoyed her family and many friends she had made through the years working in the grocery business. Dorothy had a very strong work ethic and was an avid Gonzaga fan.

Dorothy is survived by two children, Orville and his wife, Lynn Miller of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Brenda and her husband, Pete Rinaldi of Valleyford, Wash.; two granddaughters, Ashley Rinaldi of Portland, Ore., and Holly Foley of Boston, Mass.; one great-grandson, Wesyn Thomas; and her sisters-in-law, Harriet Lawrence of Council, Idaho, Clara Wingfield of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Penny Miller of Rathdrum, Idaho, Lena McGillivray of Kingston, Idaho, and Marion McGillivray also of Kingston. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Miller; one son, Virgil Miller; one daughter, Sheila Miller; two brothers, Chuck and Warren; and one sister, Helen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating. A reception and luncheon will be held at the church following services. Interment will be held at Hunt Cemetery in Kingston.
