Fred Isael Krause, 95

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Fred Isael Krause, 95, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away December 21, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Silver Wood Village of Silverton. He was born June 4, 1924 in Montrose, Colorado; Fred was the son of Fred Albert and Ella (Bretches) Krause.

Fred moved to Mullan in 1926 with his family from Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He attended schools in Mullan.

Fred proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

Fred married Elizabeth “Bette” Halmon on February 15, 1946 in Oakland, California.

Fred had served as a miner for various mines in the Silver Valley. He also was a barber in Mullan. And lastly, Fred worked for Rohr Aircraft of San Diego, California, as an aircraft builder and painter.

Fred was a member and very active in the Lutheran Church in San Diego and wherever he resided, he also was a member of the Indian Guides of San Diego- which was a father/son activity group.

Fred loved and enjoyed his family, bowling, golfing, fishing, wood-working and playing cards- especially pinochle and bridge. He had also served as a coach for Little League baseball and Fred himself, had been a member of the City of Mullan baseball team in the 1950’s.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years Elizabeth “Bette” Krause of Silverton, Idaho; one son Stephen and his wife Anita Krause of Tucson, Arizona; one granddaughter Bryanna and her husband Victor Armas of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother Robert Krause of Longview, Washington; two sisters Bertha Davis of Silverton, Idaho and Mary DeWall of Cleveland, Ohio; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held and announced in the Spring.
