| December 30, 2019 9:48 AM

Arnold “Abby” Ray Kurt passed away on December 14, 2019 after struggling with many health related problems. His family is at peace knowing that he is no longer in pain.

Abby was born December 8, 1960 to his parents, Harold and Wanda Kurt, in The Dalles, Oregon. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1979.

After graduation, he worked for Stovern’s in Kellogg, and then took a job in Spokane working for Western State Caterpillar. He later transferred to another branch in Meridian, ID. In 2005, he moved to Elko, NV and worked for Cashman Caterpillar Equipment until he retired in 2018.

In 2000, Abby met his wife, Julie Culver. They were later married in 2002. Abby was proud father of his two children, 5 step-children, and doting grandfather of 8 grandchildren.

Abby loved his church, Living Stones, and enjoyed singing Christian and Country music. In his younger days, he enjoyed bowling and refereeing basketball. After he retired, he spent as much of his time as possible with his children and grandchildren.

Abby was preceded in death by his father, Harold Kurt, and grandparents, Edith and Matt Bushbacher, and Arnold and Lydia Kurt.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Wanda Kurt-Gunning (Vern), his wife, Julie Kurt, his children Kendra Lloyd (James), and Cooper Kurt, his 5 step-children, Matthew Gardner, Jonathan Culver, Josh Culver, Janelle Culver, and Jared Culver, and his 8 grandchildren: Carter, Jozlyn, Jonah, Jarren, Henley, Jalen, Marshall and Parker. He is also survived by his brother Harold Kurt (Stacy) and their children Michael and Nicholas, his sister Valerie Schulze (Matthew) and their children Jennifer and Scott, his aunt, Lynette Snyder (Craig), along with countless cousins and dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 11th, at 2:30pm at Living Stones in Elko. Abby’s favorite color was orange, so we are inviting all to come and celebrate Abby and wear his favorite color. A taco bar will be available at the conclusion of the celebration, a time to sit, share and sing. In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations in Arnold Kurt’s name can be made to the American Lutheran Church in Kellogg.
