Taking care of the community

Heritage Health’s vision of health care in the Silver Valley is different than the typical medical center.
Smiles are given. Names are remembered. Trust is earned. And little gestures go a long way.
It’s a philosophy that Heritage Health’s Kellogg clinic has lived by for a long time.
“Our employees love the community and the people,” said Lynn Haughn, Clinic Director of the Kellogg Clinic. “Since we’re small, we have developed a special relationship with people. It truly is a family here.”
To that end, the 33 employees in the clinic have gone out of their way to make Thanksgiving and Christmas special. There have been fundraisers, food drives, gift drives and contests designed to brighten the lives of Heritage Health’s patients.
“We had a contest to guess the number of marbles in a jar and the patient nailed it,” said Haughn. “It was a lot of fun and we were able to provide a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for her.”
Heritage Health also raised $200 for the Shoshone County Crisis and Resource Center. The effort was linked to Heritage Health employees paying at least $5 a week to wear denim during the holiday season.
“The Shoshone Crisis and Resource Center does a lot of good for women in domestic violence situations,” said Haughn. “We have developed a very good working relationship with them.”
The crisis center helps men, women, and children in crisis. It advocates for victims of domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault. The resource center provides emotional and legal support for people in the Silver Valley.
The spirit of giving is deeply engrained in the Kellogg clinic.
“It’s a team-building thing, but it also truly helps the community,” said Haughn. “We love our patients.”
