Jean E. Johnson, 83

Jean E. Johnson, 83, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away February 3, 2019 at the Life Care Center of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She was born April 17, 1935 in Wallace; Jean was the daughter of Horton and Mae (Baxter) Ostrander.

Jean has lived in the Silver Valley all of her life. She attended and graduated from the Wallace High School in 1953; Jean had also attended college.

Jean married Robert “Bob” Johnson on August 4, 1954 in Wallace. Bob passed away on December 10, 2008.

Jean had first worked at the Rexall Drug Store of Wallace, which her father Horton Ostrander had owned. After her marriage to Bob Johnson, she was a bookkeeper for the family business - Bob’s Texaco Station of Wallace. Jean had also served as a bookkeeper for the Wallace Printing. Bob and Jean briefly operated the Y Tavern of Prichard and then later operated the Prichard Tavern for fifteen years, before they both retired.

Jean was a member of the Wallace Elks and the Hayden Eagles. She had also served as a Camp Fire leader.

Jean loved and enjoyed snowmobiling in her younger years, pheasant hunting with her husband Bob, playing cards and reading.

Jean is survived by three children Robie Johnson and Laura of Post Falls, Idaho, Gary Johnson of Houston, Texas and Jae Jean and Mike Achord of Silverton, Idaho; three grandchildren; one nephew Skip and Janet Ostrander; two nieces Kathy Jarvis and Debbie and Bruce Anderson. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob and one brother Jim Ostrander.

Upon Jean’s request no services will be held.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Prichard/Murray Volunteer Fire Department, 21109 Coeur d’ Alene River Road Wallace, Idaho 83873.
