Afterhours Social talks tech and how to use it
KELLOGG — The Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted an Afterhours Social event last weekend to discuss various means of marketing businesses, primarily focused on smaller local businesses.
The event featured a list of speakers from various walks and backgrounds who could explain the way they market, what they do and provide insight into the places where they are strong in doing so.
Derek Furman discussed affordable, user-friendly website development platforms like Wix and Weebly.
Benjamin Powell spoke briefly on how important the proper use of photos are for telling stories within marketing.
Chanse Watson and Josh McDonald explained how they have used social media platforms like Facebook as a means to reach their audience, grow their brand, track social media progress and how to successfully marry a paid subscription service with a free social media page.
Jackie Johnson finished the night by explaining the possibilities surrounding identity theft and how to protect yourself by using Identity and Legal Shield.
The meeting was well attended given the open forum nature and originality of the event, but Silver Valley Chamber Director Mallory Phillips was pleased with the turnout and hopes to see similar events become a regular occurrence.
“Friday night we had a great turnout for the first online marketing afterhours social at the Silver Valley Chamber Office,” Phillips said. “If there is continued interest, I hope to have more of these online marketing focused evenings, including a more interactive workshop where we can help businesses learn to use Facebook, Weebly, Instagram, etc."
