Pearl Lickfold Knack, 88

Pearl Lickfold Knack, 88, passed to her eternal home on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Schneidmiller/Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, ID. She was born to Duncan McGillivray and Linda Hunter McGillivray on July 13, 1930 in Kellogg, ID. Pearl attended Coeur d’Alene Schools and Kingston High School and Kinman Business College in Spokane, WA and married Howard Lickfold on July 31, 1948 in Missoula, MT.

They made their home in Smelterville, ID where Howard was Smelterville Constable and owned a shoe repair shop. They later moved to Kellogg, ID where Howard was a “gypo” miner at Bunker Hill and later moved to Metaline Falls, WA where Howard was also “gypo” miner. In 1959 he worked for Peter Kewitt, building diversion tunnels for dams. The family traveled from WA, OR, CA, and ID where they had many adventures and made many friends. Pearl worked at Silver Mountain (Jackass Ski Bowl) in the restaurant from 1968- 1969, Pik Kwik in Kellogg, ID in the restaurant from 1969-1971, and Wallace Elks Lodge dining room, where she catered many occasions, from 1971-1973.

In 1971 Pearl married John Knack in Coeur d’Alene, ID. They lived in Kellogg, ID and Post Falls, ID where they retired in 1983. John died in 2004 and Pearl then made her home with her daughter, Barbara, who was her best friend, companion, and finally, her caregiver. Barbara and Pearl lived together for 15 years of fun and happiness. Pearl enjoyed playing cards, reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing, dancing, and adored her dog, Abby. She also was very artistic, an accomplished chef who loved cooking for her family.

She enjoyed jokes, teasing, and pranks. She smiled and laughed every day of her life, right to the last day.

She is survived by her children: Dennis Lickfold, Gail Monticalvo (2007- present), Post Falls, ID, Barbara Colley, Post Falls ID, and Scott ( LeTana) Lickfold, Athol , ID; 11 grandchildren: Marvin (Mindy) Lickfold, Bridget Lickfold, Clifford (Shawna) Lickfold, Charity Lickfold, Angela (Neal) Adams, Andrea (Micah) Coring, Brandon (Christina) Lickfold, Zanna (Steven) Tellez-Mendoza, Jamilah Lickfold, Chantelle Lickfold, and Sarah Lickfold; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her sister, Linda Ufford (Jim).

She was preceded in death by her brother, Duncan McGillivray, Jr.; husbands, John P Knack and Howard Lickfold; her parents; great grandson, Jason L. Starr; and great granddaughter, Tana Leigh Tolliver.
