Irene Lois Hellman, 84

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Irene Lois Hellman, 84, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away February 10, 2019 at Kootenai Health of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. She was born November 25, 1934 in Philipsburg, Montana; Irene was the daughter of Arthur and Fannie Pearl (Baisley) Mickelson.

Irene moved to the Silver Valley in 1966 from Philipsburg, Montana. She married Patrick “Pat” Hellman on July 3, 1968 in Wallace, Idaho.

Irene had first worked as a clerk in town grocery stores in Philipsburg, Montana, as well as, she had worked at the Antlers Bowling Alley also of Philipsburg. After moving to the Silver Valley, she had worked at the Stardust and the Myles Motels of Wallace and lastly, as a cook at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan of Silverton. Irene was also a beloved wife and mom raising a big family.

Irene was a member of Women’s and Mixed bowling leagues; she was known as one of the top women bowlers of her league, here in the Silver Valley. Irene also loved and enjoyed her family, sewing, crocheting afghans, hats and mittens, dolls, quilting, fishing and hunting.

Irene is survived by her husband Patrick “Pat” Hellman of the family home of Osburn; eight children Daisy (Joe) Cassidy of Davenport, Washington, Robert (Min) Boyd of Boise, Idaho, Auther Ray (Karen) Boyd of Chico, California, Aaron “Rusty” (Rhonda) Boyd of Missoula, Montana, Gloria (Chris) Johnston of Belgrade, Montana, William “Bill” (Susanne) Hellman of Manhattan, Montana, Judith “Judy” Hebert of Mullan, Idaho, and Patricia (Joe) Lopez of Leander, Texas; adopted niece Jo Jo Peterson & family of Clinton, Montana; eighteen grandchildren, thirty plus great-grandchildren; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters- Johnny, Toby, Thomas, Mary, Roddo, and Mervil and her beloved dog Echo.

A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held and announced at a later date.
