KELLOGG – The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office reports that four significant drug related arrests have been made in the Silver Valley since Feb. 6, some involving the use of a drug detection K-9 and assistance from other local agencies.

The most recent incident occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 13 when personnel from the Kellogg Police Department and SCSO responded to a possible drug overdose at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg.

While at SMC, information was gathered that supported the issuance of a search warrant for a residence belonging to Raemon M. Sauer of Cataldo, Idaho.

A subsequent execution of the search warrant at the location resulted in the arrests of Amber Madsen, 19, Kathleen Shadduck, 56, and Jamie Rowe, 28. In addition to the charges associated with this incident, Rowe was also arrested for multiple outstanding warrants.

A search of the home also led to the seizure of numerous controlled substances including heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana in addition to paraphernalia and at least one stolen firearm.

SCSO captain Jeremy Groves states that the investigation is ongoing in this case and additional arrests are anticipated.

On the morning of that same day, personnel with SCSO and the Osburn Police Department responded to a one vehicle roll-over crash in Silverton.

While conducting the crash investigation around 10:30 a.m., a second vehicle approached the scene and failed to stop at the commands of law enforcement.

The second vehicle, driven by Stanley C. Radford, 55, of Osburn, then lost control on the icy roads and crashed into a tree. Radford was not injured and attempted to walk away from the crash scene, but was quickly taken into custody by OPD officers for outstanding warrants, along with new charges for possession of a controlled substance, destroying/concealing/or altering evidence, resisting/obstructing an Officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Going back just one day to Feb. 12, SCSO Deputy Ben Abshire and his controlled substance detection K-9, Deputy Lulu, responded to the area of East Cameron in Kellogg at approximately 10:55 p.m. to assist KPD on a traffic stop.

The KPD officer made the initial stop because of traffic infraction.

Upon arrival, Deputy Lulu was deployed and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle involved, a 1995 Ford Escort. At that time, she alerted to the vehicle which indicated that the occupants may be associated with controlled substances.

Upon further investigation, a white powdery substance and an amount of marijuana was located as well as various items of drug paraphernalia.

Abshire then took Michael J Kramer Jr., 23, of Pinehurst, Idaho into custody for possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jeremy R. Cruzan, 34, of Pinehurst, Idaho was also cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia and is pending additional charges of possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Abshire and Lulu were put to work as well on Feb. 8 when Deputies were dispatched to exit 69 on Interstate-90 around 5:45 a.m. for a one vehicle crash.

During the course of the crash investigation, illegal substances were located in the vehicle. As a result, Robert P. Germano, 33, Spokane, Washington, was arrested by Abshire and charged with possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The cause of the initial crash was determined to have been weather related and Germano was not injured.

With so many drug related arrests in such a short amount of time, Capt. Groves believes that this is a strong example of good teamwork.

“It show that all the agencies in the area are working diligently working together and being proactive in curbing drug crime.”

Groves was also sure to mention Deputy Lulu’s successes as well.

“Her actions (Lulu) just reassure us that the investment the county made going with her and the training is paying off with results.”
