Drug detection K-9 utilized in drug arrests
WALLACE – The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office reports that two Montana residents were taken into custody Wednesday night for drug related charges in Wallace.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., Deputy Ben Abshire initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the city for a moving violation.
During the course of the traffic stop, Deputy Abshire deployed his drug detection K-9 Lulu to conduct an open air sniff. After Lulu gave a positive alert and indicated that an illegal substance was present, a closer investigation began, which eventually led to the arrest William B. Pierre, 33, and Evelyn J. Franks, 26.
Pierre has been charged with possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of paraphernalia. Franks is also seeing charges for possession of marijuana and failure to display ID to law enforcement.
