Law enforcement responds to alleged suicidal subject
SILVERTON – The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies and troopers with Idaho State Police took a 56-year-old male into custody on Sunday after being notified that he may be suicidal.
SCSO was informed by ISP on Jan. 6 that there was a possible suicidal subject driving a blue 2006 Honda Civic traveling eastbound from Montana toward Lookout Pass. The two agencies then began a search for the vehicle.
During the search, the responding units were told that the driver, Billy Reynolds of Washington, had allegedly made comments that he would force police to shoot him (suicide by cop) if law enforcement made contact with him.
Reynolds was located a while later on Interstate-90 near exit 57 (Silverton) and responding units conducted a high risk traffic stop.
The suspect was detained without incident and after a brief investigation, it was discovered that he did not make any threatening statements toward law enforcement. However, Reynolds was taken into custody by ISP for Driving Under the Influence.
