Kellogg wrestling

KELLOGG — The Kellogg Wildcats wrestling team had a busy weekend as they split time between Coeur d’Alene and Cheney, Wash.

At Coeur d’Alene High School the team fared well against the larger school, going 11-2 through the event.

Austin McKinnon, Wyatt Hei, Raymond Heely, Cody Vergobbi, Cody Sverdsten, Kayden Zimmerman, Tanner Pascoe, and Myles Hayman all picked up wins for the Wildcats.

At the Cheney Blackhawk Invitational the Wildcats were tested against some of the best schools in Eastern Washington, and they showed that they belonged. Grabbing five top-5 spots, including four second place finishes, Kellogg was right in the thick of things despite being one of the smaller schools at the competition.

“Our kids wrestled hard this weekend and did a lot of good things,” Kellogg coach Scott Miller said. “It's good to be back in competition and I think we looked much better in terms of fighting hands and controlling mat movement. We continue to make pretty good progress.”
