Helen Irene Strand, 95
Beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, Helen Irene Strand, 95, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away June 13, 2019 at the Mountain Valley of Cascadia of Kellogg, Idaho. She was born October 3, 1923 in Susohity Tomoozow, Poland; Helen was the daughter of Michael and Michelle (Boruf) Biront.
Helen married Glen Strand in a two day celebration on September 3rd and 4th 1946 in Nuernberg, Germany.
Helen and Glen moved to the Silver Valley in 1946 from Nuernberg.
Helen was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Helen was a member of the Idaho Ski Club and a member of the American Lutheran Church of Kellogg. She loved and enjoyed her family, skiing, gardening and flowers, sewing (she was a wonderful seamstress) and a very good cook. Helen was also an avid reader, politically savvy and loved spoiling her husband Glen.
Helen is survived by her daughter Doris Strand and Wayne of Spokane Valley, Washington; her grandson Christopher of Spokane Valley; a granddaughter Carrie of Portland, Oregon; one niece Diane of Pocatello, Idaho; “Daughters of the heart” Toni Helm of Osburn, Idaho and Lynette Grannis of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; “Sons of the heart” Gordon Turner, Bobby Priebe and Rudy Carlson. Helen was preceded in death by her parents of Poland, her two brothers of Poland, her husband Glen who passed away in 1985, one son Ron Strand, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law Floyd and Maxine Strand and one niece Darlene.
A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at 1:00 P.M. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Pinehurst with Rev. Ken Bartle officiating. A reception/luncheon will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall following services.
