Leopold “Frenchie” Joseph Poirier, 92

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Leopold “Frenchie” Joseph Poirier, 92, of Kingston, Idaho, passed away June 29, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born March 6, 1927 in St. Paul Dechester, Quebec, Canada; Leopold was the son of Amdee and Ida (Clautier) Poirier.

Leopold spent his early years growing up in Canada before moving to the states. He started working as a logger using horses to move the timber. He later went to work as a miner, which he did until his retirement.

On December 19, 1954 Leopold was united in marriage to Shirley Coe in Quebec, Canada. Together they raised five children.

Leopold was known to collect many things. His favorite saying was “I might need that someday.” He liked saving everything and did a great job of repurposing things. He was a well rounded handyman. Leopold was a caring and loving man. What he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family. He also volunteered his time driving seniors to appointments and helping others in need.

Leopold is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Shirley Poirier; four children Janet (Robert) Olson, Leopold Poirier, Anita Kerr and Claudette (Kris) Brady; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Leopold was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and his son Terry Poirier.

Cremation will take place and no services will be held per Leopold’s request.
