Shookman

WALLACE – 7 years ago, 32 year old Brian Shookman of Great Falls, MT, disappeared after traveling to Shoshone County for a family reunion.

A missing person’s report was filed on August 1, 2012, when he failed to arrive at the reunion after leaving his cousin’s home in Kellogg. Brian’s abandoned vehicle was located approximately one month later on a dirt road in the area of Dobson Pass.

For years, the Idaho State Police and Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office have followed leads related to his suspicious disappearance and have enlisted outside resources to aid in their investigation. Witnesses have been interviewed by both agencies and evidence collected, but Brian has still not been located.

This week another search was conducted for Brian, or for evidence associated with his disappearance, by Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Department of Lands personnel who responded to a mutual aid request for assistance, along with the Shoshone County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and members of Brian’s family.

Brian was a son, a brother and a father. Although he is gone, he is not forgotten.

“There is a mother who is grieving the disappearance and believed loss of her son and all she wants to do is bring him home to a place of rest. All agencies involved in this case support her and her family in that mission,” Shoshone County Prosecuting Attorney Keisha L. Oxendine said.

In a small community, collaborative resources between the Idaho State Police, Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies are necessary in order to ensure that cases like these are not forgotten.
