KHS student appointed to prestigious leadership program
KELLOGG — Kellogg High School student Angel Beier was Idaho’s lone selection and one of 70 students nationally to be selected to the Four Star Leadership Program at Oklahoma Christian University later this summer.
The program is a partnership between the university and General Tommy Franks, a retired Army general who founded the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute.
During the program, Beier will have an opportunity to learn leadership techniques from frontrunners in various fields.
Beier is currently the No. 1 ranked student for the KHS class of 2020, with a 4.0 GPA and a bright future ahead of her.
“I plan on attending NIC full time as a dual credit student for my senior year,” Beier said. “After that, I want to go to the Air Force academy. I hope to get leadership experience from this program that will help me if I attend a U.S. service academy. I also want to take advantage of the many scholarship opportunities they offer there to help me if I end up going to a civilian college or university.”
Politicians, dignitaries and star athletes are some of the national and international leaders who have offered their expertise to previous years’ leadership programs.
Toward the conclusion of the week-long program, attendees will have the opportunity to expand upon their skills through a persuasive speech and writing competition, as well as collaboratively in an Ethics Bowl tournament.
“We are excited that these students have chosen Four Star Leadership to assist them in increasing their leadership capabilities,” said retired Gen. Tommy Franks. “It’s truly an honor to work with some of the top students from around the world and assist them in achieving their long-term goals.”
Attending students such as Beier, will have the opportunity to earn more than $30,000 in scholarships, as well as gain internships and receive letters of recommendation. The program is free for accepted students.
Since 2008, Four Star Leadership has welcomed 562 U.S. high school students from 48 different states and 45 international students.
