St. Joe Ranger District opens the Upper Landing Dump Station
ST. MARIES — The St. Joe Ranger District has reopened the Upper Landing Dump Station, located approximately one mile up stream in Avery along the St. Joe River corridor.
The dump station allows for grey water and RV disposal. The site had been closed the last three seasons until an appropriate fee could be established to support the operation. The current fee is $10 per use.
These fees are critical for keeping the dump station open as the money collected goes directly back to maintaining and pumping out the vaults and hauling the waste to St. Maries.
“I’m optimistic that we will be able to keep the site open in future seasons to accommodate the increase in RV visitation along the river corridor,” said Christine Plourde, St. Joe Ranger District recreation manager.
The district will evaluate the money collected this summer and evaluate the site’s sustainability this fall. For more information about recreation or site fees on the St. Joe Ranger District, please contact Christine Plourde or Ray Burpo at 208-245-2531.
