Robert Franklin Spoor Jr., 85

Beloved brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, Robert Franklin Spoor Jr., 85, of Pinehurst, Idaho passed away on February 24, 2019 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg, Idaho. He was born, August 23, 1933 in Smelterville, Idaho; the son of Robert and Lavaina (Krone) Spoor.

Robert was a lifelong member of the Silver Valley. He graduated from the Kingston High School, class of 1952.

Robert proudly served the in United States Army. Upon his return, he married his beloved wife, Shirley Heier in 1957.

Robert worked for the Bunker Hill Mining Company as a Zinc stripper for over 30 years until his retirement. In his younger years, Robert built his own self loader out of scrap metals and hauled logs for Linfor Lumber on weekends and when he was not working for Bunker Hill. He also fought forest fires for the forest service.

Although Robert was a very active working member of the community, he also was a member of several clubs and organizations. Robert was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, the VFW of Osburn #1675, Good Sam Club, ran Bingo at the American Steel Workers Union, and a member of the Silver Valley Seniors, which his parents helped establish in 1973. He was also a member of the Coeur d’Alene Casino’s Coyote Club.

Robert enjoyed many things in life. Some of his favorite hobbies included scrapping metal to recycle, cutting wood, hunting, and fishing, exploring and driving in the woods within the Valley, traveling throughout the western parts of the United States, and having fun at the casino.

Robert is survived by his granddaughter, Jaylene (Mike) Oberg of Pinehurst, Idaho; his daughter, Kelly Spoor of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters, Nancy (Trevis) Green of Clarkston, Washington and Sally (John) Clawson of Thompson Falls, Montana; one brother, Terry (Vicki) Spoor of Kellogg, Idaho; three great-grandchildren, Riki, Robert, and Sam; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by both parents, Robert and Lavaina; his sister, Cheryl; his great-grandson, Todd; and his beloved wife, Shirley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW of Osburn #1675: 318 E Mullan Ave, Osburn, ID 83849, on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. This will be a potluck, all are welcome to attend.
