The Rice Brothers are coming to town

KELLOGG — The Shoshone County Community Concert Association is holding their first concert of 2019, when The Rice Brothers come to town.
The Rice Brothers, Johnny and Chris, are young Polish-American musicians who are accomplished pianists and cellists.
They have performed extensively in the United States, in New York City — including their Carnegie Hall debut in 2014 — in such places as Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, and in many parts of their native southwestern U.S.
Internationally, they have performed in Warsaw, Poland, where they were the featured artists at the June 2014 World Music Day celebration; Vienna and Salzburg, Austria; Munich, Germany; and Budapest, Hungary.
“We are so excited,” said SCCCA member Carol Gerard. “Not only is it going to be fun Polish music, but they also play a wide variety of music, so there will be something there for everyone.”
Between the two of them, Johnny and Chris have been soloists with The Phoenix, Scottsdale and Mesa Symphonies, as well as The Symphony of the Southwest.
Their Carnegie Hall debut in 2014 followed each having been named a gold medalist at an international Chopin piano competition.
With a unique blend of Polish, gospel, jazz and ragtime music, The Rice Brothers should put on a memorable show for everyone who can make it.
They are committed to the expansion of the audience for classical music, and toward this end, spend a great deal of time reaching out to members of younger generations.
The first concert of the spring season has the SCCCA buzzing, and for good reason.
Its mission has always been to ensure that the local residents of Shoshone County have the opportunity to see quality musical performances without having to break the bank or drive for an hour.
“It’s nice to have an organization like the SCCCA here,” Gerard said. “Something where we can bring quality music here locally instead of having to drive over the mountains for it.”
The Rice Brothers will be performing at Kellogg High School this Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m. and is free for SCCCA members and children accompanied by adults.
