Headed to the park!
KELLOGG — The Silver Valley Community Market will have a new home during the upcoming season.
Formerly the Kellogg Farmer’s Market, the newly christened Silver Valley Community Market will be leaving its previous location near the Silver Valley Chamber Office and will be moving into the Kellogg City Park.
Although having the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes running through the market made it very accessible and convenient, there were several concerns that being in the city park will address.
Spatial concerns and visibility within the community were among the major struggles the market faced.
During a recent meeting, Silver Valley Chamber director and market committee member Mallory Phillips spoke about how impactful a move to the park could be.
“The move would obviously give us more space for parking, access to bathrooms and more community feel,” Phillips said. “We also could make the market more conducive to our musical guests, which could increase visitation.”
Speaking of music, this year the musical guests will range from nine-piece bands to solo steel drummers.
“We have an awesome slate of bands and performers this year,” Phillips said. “I’m really excited with how everything is coming together. I think this year is going to be even better than last year.”
Phillips also wanted to highlight some special events related to the Community Market.
“We have our cornhole tournament fundraiser coming up at the Wallace Elks,” Phillips said. “And we will have a cobbler cook-off during the July 11 market.”
The cornhole tournament is set for May 2, at 5 p.m. and is a fundraiser specifically for the Silver Valley Community Market.
The Community Market will kick off on June 13 and will run through the summer before ending on Sept. 12.
