Local law enforcement conduct west end criminal interdiction

SMELTERVILLE – Five individuals were taken into police custody last Friday as the result of a focused criminal interdiction held on the west end of the Silver Valley.

The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office reports that on March 22, 2019, the Osburn Police Department and SCSO pooled their crime fighting resources (including K9 Deputy Lulu) and hit the streets of Smelterville and Pinehurst to conduct a four hour operation with a targeted focus on drug crime.

As a result of the heavy police presence, the effort yielded five arrests for felony drug offenses, misdemeanor offenses and other outstanding warrants.

In the City of Smelterville:

•Paul Flory, male, 48, of Smelterville was arrested for an outstanding Shoshone County warrant

•Jenny Bauer, female, 30, of Smelterville was arrested for felony drug charges.

•Zeke Smith, male, 38, of Smelterville was arrested for felony drug charges and one misdemeanor charge.

•Danny Ray Cruzan, male, 52, of Pinecreek was arrested for felony drug charges, two misdemeanor charges and an outstanding Kootenai County warrant.

In the City of Pinehurst:

•Melissa Sherbinow, female, 28, of Wallace was arrested on felony drug charges and one misdemeanor charge.

The criminal interdiction also saw 26 traffic stops be initiated resulting in several verbal warnings for traffic infractions, two infraction citations issued, and one misdemeanor cite and release.

SCSO Undersheriff Holly Lindsey was pleased with the results of the operation and eluded to similar operations being conducted in the future.

“Criminals beware!” She said in a news release. “The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office looks forward to teaming up with our local law enforcement community for additional criminal interdictions in the near future.”
