Work on the City of Kellogg’s Road & Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project for the 2019 construction season is moving right along.

Big Sky Development, the contractor for Phase III, is installing mainline sewer in the alley behind the old YMCA building. Once completed, they will begin installing mainline sewer in West Portland Avenue. Work in this area will, at times, present access challenges for residents. Those living in this area of town will be contacted prior to work beginning in order to work out issues and concerns.

Knife River, the Phase II contractor for work North of I-90 in the Sunnyside Addition continues with a waterline crew moving East on Cameron Avenue toward the Miners Hat and on to East Riverside Ave. They will then proceed to West Cameron Avenue across the street from the Subway sandwich shop to replace a very deep manhole.

Knife River is proceeding with road work in the areas of North Hill Street, Cathryn Avenue, North Avenue, Vergobbi Avenue and Elder Avenue in preparation for paving later this spring. This is a congested area so we are recommending that homeowners consider alternative parking when necessary and plan travel routes to and from your homes accordingly. A cleanup crew is following both the pipe and road crews addressing issues as necessary.

Construction near you will occur over a number of days so please plan accordingly. Work will begin at 7 a.m. and depending on what needs to be done to meet construction schedules, may occur on Saturdays.

Please be safe. Obey road closure signs and drive carefully around and through construction zones. Allow extra time for commuting and watch out for heavy equipment moving throughout the area, operators may not be able to see you. Watch out for pedestrians, especially young children and pets.

Parents are asked to remind their children to avoid active construction zones and to not play on material piles placed throughout the area. Everyone needs to be constantly aware of heavy equipment and understand that operators of large equipment struggle with blind spots that make it difficult to see people, pets and traffic moving throughout the site.
