WALLACE – With the weather cooperating, the 34th annual Depot Day festival & classic automobile show on Saturday went off without a hitch and saw strong attendance.

NPR Depot Museum director Shauna Hillman says that roughly 2,500 people turned out this year to check out 285 different vehicles parked up and down the streets of downtown Wallace. This attendance number falls right in line with the 2,500 that showed up the year before.

In addition to the many cars to check out, attendees were able to browse several different vendors that were set up on the Depot Museum’s front lawn.

The Depot Day festivities have historically had good turnouts (as long as the weather has cooperated) and usually signal the beginning of festival season in Wallace. A healthy turnout is good news for Hillman and the Depot, as this event is the main fundraiser for the museum.

“The funds are used for maintenance, gift shop stock and employee wages,” Hillman explained. “Much of the work at the NPR Depot Museum is volunteer. Thank you to the many volunteers and merchants who helped make this Depot Day a grand success- The registration table, the car parkers, the ticket writers, Gretchen the artist and The NP Depot Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors.”
