Osburn Mayoral Candidate: Charles 'Spike' Angle

| November 1, 2019 2:24 PM

Charles “Spike” Angle, 65, is running for the position Osburn mayor and, if elected, plans to keep the citizens of Osburn informed on the issues and get their input on decisions that may affect them on a long- and short-term basis.

“I would like to start a Planning and Zoning board where the citizens have a say on what actually is going on with these issues and help the council make the right decisions,” Angle said.

Angle is challenging incumbent mayor Kip McGillivray for the position.

He and his wife, Denise Angle, have five children and 11 grandchildren.

His education includes graduating from Wallace High School and attending Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training, during which he completed thousands of hours of training.

Angle says that he has worked with local county and city governments for the past 40 plus years and has gained knowledge in budgeting, management of employees and the way they operate on a daily basis.

He is currently the President of the Osburn City Council.

In addition to the government service, Angle has worked at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office where he achieved the rank of Captain. Following that, he became the Chief of Police for the Osburn Police Department and held the position for 17 years until he retired.

Notable achievements Angle has received include an outstanding service award from the Dept. of Health and Welfare, a distinguished professional service award from the North Idaho Domestic Violence Coalition, several officer recognition awards for responding well to domestic violence calls and many other officer recognition awards.

He has assisted the City of Osburn with snow removal and maintenance of all sewer lines for over 15 years.

Angle says getting involvement from the people of Osburn and being available will be his top priority.

“Being retired and only working on a part time basis, I would be able to attend meetings and be available to meet with citizens when asked,” he said. “I would continue to monitor the roads program for the City of Osburn that former Mayor Bob McPhail started several years ago.”
