Taking their talents to Sixth Street

WALLACE — Prepare to be amazed, or, at the very least, entertained.

The Sixth Street Theatre is pleased to bring you its November production, “The Big Bebop Bandstand Amateur Night Talent Show.”

The show was written by Sixth Street veteran Terri Robinson and features a delightful cast performing both terrific and hilarious feats.

Robinson’s inspiration for the play came from something well-known to many Silver Valley residents.

“This play was inspired by a talent show that used to be telecast live from Spokane when I was a kid called ‘Starlit Stairway,’” Robinson said. “Anyone that grew up here around my age will remember the show and can sing you their jingle, ‘When You Need Coal or Oil call Boyle, Fairfax 8-1521.’ I loved that show and never got to be on it so I wrote my own. If you come to see the show, you will notice right off that every other act actually has talent and every other act not so much, but that is what makes it fun.”

Fun may be an understatement.

Paul Roberts steals the show as the hilarious talent show host, but the real winner of this show is Ed Warren putting on a dance rendition that you simply have to see to believe.

Robinson has been working on the script for some time, finely tuning many of the specifics that revolve around characters and who played them.

“This play has been in the works for a couple years. I wrote it with certain people in mind and as different people committed to being in the show, I customized it to their specific talents,” Robinson said. “I also indulged myself by using some of my favorite songs from the 1950s. This play brings back some of everyone’s favorites from shows past and I even convinced some of our board members to participate. There is something for everyone.”

There are six more chances to see the show.

Shows will be Friday and Saturday nights at 7 and Sundays are a matinée that start at 2 p.m., and shows will be Nov. 8-10, and Nov. 15-17.
