KELLOGG — Lovers of local athletics and classic Italian faire will be excited to know that Kellogg High School will be holding a spaghetti dinner and auction to benefit KHS’s athletics.

The event will be held at the Kellogg Elks and as mentioned, all of the proceeds will go toward Kellogg High School’s athletic fund.

“We have so many teams making trips to state tournaments and we are only allotted a little bit of money each year in the school’s budget for those kinds of things,” said Lori Sawyer, KHS cheerleading coach. “People don’t think about these costs when they think of what goes into sports, but it’s not always just the team, the school has to pay for referees, buses, drivers, lodging, and then cheerleaders and the pep band. Those expenses can really add up.”

The auction is one of two major fundraisers that KHS does for their athletic fund, the other is a golf tournament and auction in the spring.

Organizers plan on having several awesome auction items for locals to bid on including Gonzaga basketball tickets, as well as box seats to an upcoming game between the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Sawyer is also the event organizer and is really looking forward to the auction as a whole.

“We have so many items, both big and small, so there is something there for everyone to bid on,” Sawyer said. “We will have a silent auction going on during dinner and for a short time after, before we jump into the live auction. Dinner is donation based, so people can pay however much they want for their spaghetti. We don’t know how many people are going to show up, so get there early. If we run out of food, we run out.”

The Kellogg High School Spaghetti Feed and Auction is Saturday, Nov. 16, at 4:30 p.m. followed by the auction at 6 p.m. at the Kellogg Elks building on McKinley Avenue.
