Hull grabs NSL football award

WALLACE — Wallace senior Logan Hull was named to North Star All-League Football Team for his work during the Miners’ season.
While the season went a little off the rails for Wallace this year, Hull was a bright spot for them throughout and also made a selfless move that really helped them turn a corner.
After being held scoreless through their first three games, Hull made a move from wide receiver, where he was among the best in the state for a few years, to quarterback, a position he had really never played.
Early in that game, Hull took a direct snap and took it 75 yards for the first Miner touchdown of the season.
One could almost feel the collective sigh of relief from those in attendance.
But it was Hull’s position change that made it possible.
From there Hull carved out a solid season, rushing for multiple touchdowns while also playing on the defensive side of the ball.
In light of the tough season Hull never lost heart.
“It’s not the way I wanted my high school career to end,” Hull said. “But I’m so proud of the team for how we improved throughout the year.”
As for the move to QB, Hull isn’t bitter about having to change positions — he remains the same humble, team-oriented player that he has always been.
“I did it because it was what the team needed me to do,” Hull said. “After a game or two I actually really started to enjoy it.”
Hull is going to miss playing for Coach Jared Young as well as his teammates.
“I loved playing for coach, I’m going to miss it a lot,” Hull said. “Playing with this team gave me so many memories. I hope they keep working hard and that they enjoy every second of it because they’re going to miss it when it’s over.”
Young gushed over his quarterback and expressed his happiness for his selection to the all-league team.
“Logan was a tremendous athlete for us and really became a team leader,” Young said. “He took it upon himself to switch positions to help the team when we mentioned that we really could use him at quarterback. As arguably the best receiver in the league and the position he had played for the last three years, this was a big switch for him and I thought he handled it with poise and really became a dynamic threat that every team had to scheme for. Other coaches in the league took notice and saw that he made us a different team. I’m proud and honored to have coached him and felt he was deserving of the selection to the all-league squad.”
Hull will now transition into basketball, where he has been a standout player for the past two seasons.
