KELLOGG — Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s all about Christmas and the Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce is ready to deck the halls with the 2019 Christmas Lighting Festival on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The event has grown in popularity over the years and last year’s addition of a craft fair helped make it the biggest in history.

This year, the Chamber hopes to continue the growth of the event and make this one to remember.

“We want people to come out and enjoy Kellogg,” said Chamber President Tara Lodi. “Not only is our lighting festival, but it’s also National Shop Small Saturday, so we hope that people will go around and check out all of the awesome things that Kellogg business owners have to offer.”

The Craft Fair will kick off at 10 a.m. at Kellogg Middle School and run until 3 p.m.; meanwhile there will be pictures with Santa and an open house at the Staff House Museum from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, across the city of Kellogg, small businesses will have special deals for local shoppers, as well as a fun, bingo-style game where shoppers can win prizes for getting their bingo cards marked for each business they visit.

“Uptown Kellogg is really doing some great things and we want to encourage people to go up there and shop,” Lodi said. “If they shop long enough, they’ll be up there in time for the parade and then they can follow it down to the Silver Mountain base for the tree lighting.”

Folks can still register for the parade right up to the beginning of the event and there will be cash prizes for the floats that win first, second and third places.

The parade begins at 5 p.m. and begins at the top of Main Street before ending at Silver Mountain, where the Christmas Lighting Ceremony will culminate with a fireworks show at 6:30 p.m.

Registration forms for the parade can be found at www.silvervalleychamber.com.
