Pinehurst switches on the lights
PINEHURST — Kellogg isn’t the only town that’s lighting up for the holiday season.
On Tuesday, the Pinehurst Kingston Lions Club, in conjunction with local business people and volunteers, will host the 2019 Pinehurst Lighting Ceremony.
Taking place at its usual location in the Barney’s Harvest Foods parking lot, the ceremony will kick off at 5:45 p.m. when Julia Schatz’s first-graders, Jamie Lewis’s second-graders and Sara Delgado’s third-graders from Pinehurst Elementary School sing Christmas songs.
“The young singers of Pinehurst Elementary really make the holiday celebration one to remember,” said Bruce Rumpel, Pinehurst/Kingston Lions events chairman.
Santa Claus will arrive at 6 p.m. atop a big red fire truck, courtesy of his friends at Shoshone County Fire District No. 2.
While taking in the lights, songs and Santa, attendees can look forward to hot cocoa, cookies and hot dogs provided by Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop No. 326.
“There will be many prizes to be given away, so plan on sticking around and see what great things happen when this community decides to have a celebration,” Rumpel said.
Prizes will also be given away by raffle during the event, but winners must be present to claim their prize, so folks should dress warm if they plan to stick around.
“Plan on joining our celebration to get ready for the most magical part of the year,” Rumpel said. “Please dress warm, it might be very cold and possibly wet!”
