Miner pride shines through homecoming

WALLACE — Wallace Jr./Sr. High School celebrated their homecoming last week, and to say that school spirit was alive and well at WHS would be an understatement.
With the resurrection of both the W Club and the Victory Bell, the celebratory spirit week was a huge hit and also saw a pretty big uptick in student engagement.
The week kicked off on Sept. 23 with a pep bus trip to Coeur d’Alene as the W Club came out in full force to support their volleyball team.
A movie night on Tuesday and the traditional bonfire on Wednesday night set up the last days of the week for the athletic highlights that usually accompany these school celebrations.
The Wallace volleyball team crushed Kootenai on Thursday night, and then the Miner boys played their best football game of the season on Friday (more on those games inside in the weekly sports wrap).
WHS Principal Chris Lund was thrilled with the participation he saw from his students, who really embraced the week’s Pixar theme.
“It was terrific, we had such a great week,” Lund said. “I want to give a big shout out to our student council and president Kali Davis. She really did a fantastic job organizing this. We watched ‘Coco’ on Tuesday night and we had students design a house floating on balloons like in the movie ‘Up.’ It was just great.”
Friday, prior to the football game, the students took part in a community cleanup effort and then were bused over to Silverton for the gender bending powderpuff football game.
During halftime of the football game, senior Logan Hull and Kali Davis were named Homecoming King and Queen.
Overall, Lund was thrilled with the week and wanted to thank the community for always supporting WHS.
“School spirit is at an all-time high here in Wallace,” Lund said. “The W Club was great and did a lot this week for the school. There is just a really positive vibe throughout the school. And then to our fans, we always have great crowds come out. We have such loyal fans and a great community that supports all of the Miners in everything that they do.”
