A mother's plea

| October 7, 2019 5:15 PM

Did you know that Idaho, is one of the few states that does not offer substance abuse treatment to pregnant women and / or new mothers? It’s also one of the few states that 99% of pregnant women wouldn’t dare ask for help with addiction out of fear that cps is going to step in and take their baby when it’s born... that’s what happened to me.

Without offering me help, or rehab. Just ripped my newborn son out of my arms when he was 2 days old. How can they be allowed to do that? Just take a child from their mother without any provable cause other than a substance abuse problem?! I can understand some cases where the parent refuses to get sober, but what about those of us who DO want to get clean and be a good role model for their children? Shouldn’t something be done other just ripping a child away from their home, and the people who love them?

Think about what it does to that kid in the long-run... I’m glad to say I am getting help and will son have my some back, but he is 3 months old now, I can never get that time back... and that’s not fair. I get 1 hr and 15mins a week to see my baby... that’s it! I’m not dangerous, is that fair? Hell no!
