Silver Valley Sports Recap: Oct. 7-13
Mullan football
Mullan 46, Wallace 0
MULLAN — It was homecoming for the Mullan/St. Regis Tigers on Thursday, Oct. 10, and they were ready for it.
After struggling in recent weeks with back-to-back losses and a narrow, last-minute win over Clark Fork, the Tigers needed to get back on track in a big way.
Mullan opened up a big lead early, despite the Miners going on some time-consuming drives.
Coach Stetson Spooner was pleased with his team’s ability to get the job done during the special spirit week at school.
“We got a big homecoming win today over a much-improved Wallace Miner squad that battled hard until the end,” Spooner said. “Silly mistakes again kept some big plays off the board for us but we still took care of business.”
Mullan will have the week off before they host Lakeside in a pivotal North Star League matchup on Oct. 25.
Kellogg football
Kellogg 40, Priest River 6
KELLOGG — In a rare Thursday night game, the Kellogg Wildcats opened up their Intermountain League schedule on Oct. 10 with a convincing win against Priest River.
Senior Taylor Bush finished with four touchdowns in his final game at Teeters Field.
The Spartans did take advantage of the Wildcats working in some of their JV players on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, which allowed them to get on the scoreboard late in the ball game.
Kellogg will be on the road this week in Bonners Ferry in another important IML contest.

MOSCOW — The Wallace Swimming team was on the road for a big multi dual meet on Oct. 12 at the University of Idaho.
While they came up short against some of their 5A competition, the Miners did beat Bonners Ferry during their dual.
An event such as this is a great way for swimmers to achieve some of their personal bests and the Miners did just that with 13 personal bests.
