Martha “Marty” Joanne (Scott) Doty, 67

| October 24, 2019 12:54 PM

Beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, Martha “Marty” Joanne (Scott) Doty peacefully passed away on October 20, 2019, at her home in Wallace, Idaho, after a four year battle with cancer. Martha was born on October 24, 1951; the daughter of John and Christina (Enbom) Scott.

Marty was raised in Osburn, Idaho and graduated from the Wallace High School, class of 1970. She then continued her education at the College of Idaho.

Marty was united in holy matrimony to her beloved husband, Tim on December 30, 1972; they spent 47 wonderful years together.

Marty and Tim recently restored a historic home in Wallace and she became the innkeeper of a Bed & Breakfast. It was a true labor of love and she enjoyed many aspects of preparing the home. This was after years of living in many places around the world, whether as part of Tim’s employment or personal travel.

Marty’s most precious pastime was spending time with her adoring sons, their wives and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing the piano, traveling all over the world, and was also known for being a wonderful cook- most notably her famous chili and “Don’t ask” casseroles. Marty was artistic and had a knack for décor. She often put together family photo albums and slideshows for all to enjoy.

Marty is survived by her loving husband, Tim; her sons, Ian (Erika) and David (Trish); her mother, Christina Lambert; her brothers, Jeff Scott and Mark Scott; her sisters Janet (Charles) DeVore and Jodeen (Kevin) Krieg; her six grandchildren; her two sisters-in-law, Linda Doty and Patti Doty; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John W. Scott.

Marty had just gone into hospice care after being quite ill the past two months. She is now at peace with the Lord, but she will be missed terribly here.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be considered to the Shoshone Cancer Resource Center: P.O. Box 261, Kellogg, Idaho 83837.
