Jim grew up and attended school in Coeur d’ Alene. Following high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Army in 1955.
After his service in the Army, Jim worked as a miner at Bunker Hill for 18 years. Later, he and his wife built their business, Valley Investment Property, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor.
Jim married the love of his life, Linda (McGillivray) on September 30, 1961. They spent 57 wonderful years together.
Jim was a member of The Masonic Lodge #34 Cataldo since 1974. He was also part of the Calam Shriners of Shoshone County from 1990-2018. Jim was also a member of the VFW of Osburn, Idaho.
Jim was a very charitable person. He loved to volunteer for the Shriners Hospital and was known for raising substantial amounts of money for their charity. When he wasn’t aiding in charitable contributions, Jim was often found working around his home, which he built. He enjoyed working on the yard and maintaining his landscape; the bigger the project, the better! He was a man who liked to build and fix things. He was also a collector of coins, was meticulous about picking his raspberries, and enjoyed gardening. Above all else, Jim loved his family dearly and cherished spending time with them whenever and where ever.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his daughters, Susan Vargas of Pasco, Washington, Tracy (Joe) Chan Wenzel of Barboursville, Virginia, and Anita (Bingo) Baillie of Milton, Washington; his son, Eddie (Becky) Ufford of West Richland, Washington; his grandchildren, Nakayla Chan Ellingsen, Alexander Vargas, Darby and Hunter Ufford, Lindsey Baillie; special niece, Dr. Reneau Kennedy; his brother, Ned Ufford of Lubbock, Texas; as well as his nieces and nephews, David, Steven, Gary, Leigh, Bonnie, Linda and Sandy.
