Citizens assist driver in Moon Pass crash
WALLACE – Emergency crews were dispatched to Moon Pass Monday morning after receiving a report of a vehicle crash.
Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office Captain Jeremy Groves reports that on Sept. 16 at approximately 11:20 a.m., dispatch received a call stating that a vehicle had rolled down the hillside and was in the bottom of a drainage.
Responding SCSO deputies found the crash site to be approximately 2.5 miles south from the top of Moon Pass Saddle.
The driver, later identified as Logan Galloway, 39, of Superior, Mont., was found sitting on the hillside below the roadway.
Galloway stated after he was recovered that he was traveling to work early in morning and while reaching for his soda, he veered off the roadway. Once the vehicle had left the roadway, it proceeded to roll approximately 100 yards down the hillside.
Once it came to a stop, Galloway was able to crawl out of vehicle and back towards the roadway. Due to the terrain and his injuries though, he could not go any further and had to sit for a lengthy period of time until a citizen stopped and located him. Eventually several other citizens stopped to assist Galloway until emergency crews were able to arrive.
Galloway was transported to Shoshone Medical Center by crews with Shoshone County Fire District No. 1 for treatment of the injuries sustained in the crash.
SCSO would like to thank all the citizens who stopped to provide aid and assist someone in a time of need.
