Library Network expands digital services and membership

| April 6, 2020 2:55 PM

The Community Library Network Board of Trustees agreed on April 2, 2020 to extend the temporary closure of seven libraries in North Idaho. All Library Network locations remain closed until at least until April 30th in response to COVID-19. Locations affected include Athol, Harrison, Hayden, Pinehurst, Post Falls, Rathdrum, and Spirit Lake libraries.

The Library Network continues to expand digital resources and access to those resources. “We encourage our members to stay productive and positive through the use of the E-Library resources.” urged Library Network Director John Hartung.

Members can learn a new language, brush up on computer skills, practice for a driver’s test, play educational games and more. The number of in-network members accessing music, e-books and movies is increasing as the public health orders continue. In-network members access the apps at no additional cost.

Audiences engaging with the Library Networks’ YouTube and social media pages play the “Can’t High Five Haiku Challenge” and listen to youth story time. The libraries continue to create engaging video content for all ages, assessable to the public.

Access E-Library aps, apply for membership and ask to receive email updates about library developments at communitylibrary.net/. Members needing assistance with their membership access may call (208) 773-1506 X322. A librarian will respond within 48 hours.

The Community Library Network Board continues to evaluate closure periods based on the best information available from experts at the national, state, and local level.

“We miss being able to see our members at our libraries and look forward to our always-popular summer programing.” affirmed Board President Katie Blank.
