Dump truck crash causes blockage

PINEHURST — A dump truck carrying a load of rocks caused a bit of a traffic delay after crashing Wednesday morning.

Idaho State Police reports that on Wednesday around 6:30 a.m., Robert Sibert, 55, of St. Maries, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 near milepost 45 when the front-left tire of the dump truck he was operating popped.

The blown tire caused Sibert to loose control of the vehicle and veer into the westbound lanes of traffic. Once the truck made it to the adjacent lanes, it flipped onto its side — causing its load of large rocks to spill onto the roadway.

The truck finally got right-side-up after coming to a rest in the northside ditch.

Emergency crews with Shoshone County Fire District No. 2 and ISP arrived shortly after the incident occurred to assist the driver and clear the roadway.

While the left lane was cleared fairly quickly, heavy equipment was needed to remove some of the larger rocks sitting in the right lane.

Sibert received non-life threatening injuries and he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
