Refrigeration equipment blocks I-90 traffic

| August 18, 2020 11:28 AM

WALLACE – A semi-truck's lost load caused a prolonged traffic jam yesterday on Interstate-90.

Idaho State Police reports that on August 17, 2020 at 3:13 pm, troopers responded to a non-injury, blocking crash involving a semi-tractor and trailer on I90 at milepost 63, near Wallace.

Ramandeep Singh, 25, from Surrey, British Columbia, was traveling westbound on I90 in a white 2018 Freightliner Tractor, pulling a trailer that was hauling a 50,000 pound machine used for refrigeration.

Singh entered the corner at a speed too fast for the weight of his load, which caused the load to shift and break off the trailer. The machine came to rest on the center barrier.

The load caused the truck to overturn onto the drivers side. Singh was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt. One lane of both eastbound and westbound I90 were blocked for approximately 3 hours.

Currently there is partial blockage of the eastbound and westbound fast lane due to the machine still being on the barrier and removal is underway at this time. There were no equipment failures located on the semi-truck.

The investigation is continuing.
