Donations needed for Festival of Trees

OSBURN — Silver Valley Seniors is kicking off their Mini Festival of Trees and they’re looking for community support.
The Festival of Trees is one of the organization’s biggest annual fundraisers, but with COVID-19 putting other fundraisers on hold for the season, this year’s Festival is more important than ever.
Silver Valley Seniors is asking for any business or individual who wants to participate in the Festival, please decorate and donate a tree or wreath.
Each tree is displayed, and able to be viewed either in-person or via social media, and then folks purchase raffle tickets for the trees or wreathes that they want to display in their home.
In years past, the special decorations have been anything the creator wants them to be, whether that be a special theme or a more traditional and eclectic presentation.
Trees should be of the smaller variety, and office administrator Val Evenson asks that they be under 4 feet.
Unlike previous years, this year there will not be trees displayed at the Shoshone County Courthouse as a safety precaution due to the pandemic — but Evenson still believes that the fundraiser will still be a big blessing to the Silver Valley Seniors.
Silver Valley Seniors is a nonprofit organization that provides hot, nutritious home-delivered meals to senior citizens throughout Shoshone County.
In 2019, Silver Valley Seniors delivered an average of 1,200 meals per month, but in October alone they delivered 1,800 meals.
Be it food or simply maintaining their delivery vehicles, the cost associated with delivering that much food on a monthly basis doesn’t come without a price tag.
“This is going to be our biggest fundraiser for the year,” Evenson said. “Our staff is honored and blessed to provide home-delivered meals to the senior citizens in our community. Thanks in advance for your support. We wish everyone happy holidays and a healthy New Year.”
Trees and wreaths can be brought to the Senior Services Office in Osburn as soon as they are ready and they will be displayed beginning Friday and running through Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Raffle tickets will be sold for $2 each or $5 for three tickets — any business who would be interested in selling tickets, please contact Silver Valley Seniors.
The trees and wreaths will be raffled off during the Silver Valley Seniors Open House at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17.
