WALLACE — Citing the recent Stage 2 restrictions from Gov. Brad Little and Panhandle Health District, the Wallace Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors have canceled both the Friday night Christmas Lights Parade and Saturday morning Paw Parade set for this weekend. The parades are normally part of the town’s long standing annual holiday festival.

“Our board has been in close consultation with Panhandle Health. They were advised not to conduct the parades in the given pandemic conditions,” said David Copelan, Wallace Chamber coordinator.

The board also consulted with Wallace City officials, who also recommended the parades be canceled.

“There will still be plenty of COVID-safe activities offered this Friday and Saturday,” Copelan said, “including hay rides both evenings, book readings, pictures with Santa, free holiday movie showings and a dozen downtown merchants offering family oriented activities.”

The chamber is also planning a virtual Paw Parade on Facebook. Funds raised there will be donated to Shoshone Pet Rescue.

Revised schedules will be posted to the events sections of the Wallace Chamber website and Facebook pages.
