Calvin Adam Rich, 73

| December 14, 2020 2:27 PM

Calvin Adam Rich was born May 5, 1947, in Waynesville, N.C., to Columbus Rich and Lena (Hall) Rich. He passed away Dec. 8, 2020, at his home in Pinehurst, Idaho.

Calvin lived his early years in North Carolina and moved in 1956 at the age of 9 to Fernwood, Idaho, where he attended school. As a young adult, he hauled poles out of the Floodwood. He traveled across the country working as a telecom/power lineman and an over-the-road truck driver eventually settling into mainly driving truck. He lived and worked for several years in Nome, Alaska, and then worked in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, as an ice road trucker. In his most recent years, he worked for the city of Pinehurst.

Calvin loved his many family and friends, plus he never knew a stranger. Anyone who knew him knew he enjoyed his daily stops for a cup of coffee or cold Budweiser with friends. You knew he liked you if he would joke and tease you. He once captured two orphaned grizzly cubs with pictures to prove it. Calvin leaves this world with a hole in the hearts of many family and friends but a lifetime of memories to be cherished.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Hall and Lee Rich; his parents, Columbus and Lena Rich; and grandson Cody Kalz.

Survivors include Kathy Kramer, his love of 18 years; son Johnny (Cherie) Rich; daughters Marlena Mills, Kari Ward and Brandy (Ben) Shaeffer; special like-daughters Angie Derry and Andrea Sutterlin; Kathy’s daughter, Connie (Tim) Elam; brother Rob Rich; sister Ruby (Joe) Burress; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At Calvin‘s request, no services will be held. A Facebook memorial page has been set up and a link is posted on his Facebook page for family and friends to share pictures and memories. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to his grandson’s ACS Relay for Life “Team Tough Guy.”

The family would especially like to thank Kathy for all the love and special care she gave Calvin during his recent years and final days.
