Vote “yes” on KSD supplemental levy

| February 10, 2020 3:06 PM

Tuesday, March 10th is election day. Kellogg School District will be running a Replacement Levy on that ballot. As a parent of former students, a grandparent of current students, and a district employee, I encourage you to vote “yes.”

Our district is mandated by state and federal governments to provide specific programs and services to students, and many of these are not funded by the Idaho legislature. Unfortunately, most schools in Idaho have to run levies to supplement their general budgets. Our replacement levy covers nearly 30% of our operating costs.

There are so many things that our students would lose if this levy does not continue. It would be a daunting task for our school board to make decisions on how to stretch our budget to cover the necessities.

We need to be sure our district provides for our students the things that make for a well-rounded educational experience. We need to make certain that they are prepared to survive and flourish as adults.

If you have any questions or concerns about this upcoming Replacement Levy election, please contact the Kellogg District Office.

Darcy Furlin,
