Dolores Faye Field, 88

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, Dolores Faye Field, 88, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away Feb. 11, 2020, at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, Idaho. She was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Elk River, Idaho. Dolores was the daughter of Robert L. and Dora (DeGroff) Smith and attended and graduated from Deary High School in Deary, Idaho, in 1949.

Dolores was united in marriage to Lief “Merrill” Field on Nov. 5, 1949, in Lewiston, Idaho. Merrill passed away Jan. 11, 2016.

She was co-owner/operator and bookkeeper, along with her husband Merrill, of North Idaho Sales Inc. in Wallace. She was also the office manager of Brooks Hotel for many years and recently worked in the office and restaurant to help out family whenever needed.

Dolores loved and enjoyed her family. She was a mega fan of the Gonzaga Men’s Basketball team. She also loved sewing, bowling, quilting, knitting, boating, water skiing, gardening, jeep hill climbing, RVing, old bottle digging and huckleberry picking. Most of all, she enjoyed laughing with the people she loved.

She was an avid skier until the age of 80 and also served as a ski instructor at Lookout Ski School. She was a longtime member of the Shoshone Golf and Tennis Club, Bridge Club, a Camp Fire Leader and a volunteer at the elementary school.

Dolores is survived by three children, Connie (Ward) Lister of Wallace, Vickie Field of Osburn and David Field of Missoula, Mont.; and grandson Robert “Bert” (Jessica) Field of Osburn that she raised as her own. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Roberta Hobbs of Lewiston; several nieces and nephews; her special dog, Sally Ann Field; and beloved friends Sam and Sandy Pope and children. Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merrill and great-grandson Desmond Capparelli.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2020, at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Wallace, with Rev. Art Fleming officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall following services. Also a soup dinner will be held in the Brooks banquet room of the Brooks Hotel following the reception at the Church; everyone is welcome.
