John Joseph Joe Crnkovich, 92
John Joseph “Joe” Crnkovich, 92 years of age, passed on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Joe was born September 29, 1927 in Campo-Seco, California to the late John and Kate Crnkovich. He was the oldest of seven children, five have preceded him in death; Mike, George, Frank, Ivan, and Katherine along with his soulmate, Dolores Arnold and nephews, Steve Crnkovich, Marty Crnkovich, John Crnkovich and Mark Crnkovich. He is survived by his younger brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Violet Crnkovich of Mullan, Idaho, sisters-in-law Barbara Crnkovich (Ivan) of Coeur D’Alene ID and Julie Crnkovich (Frank) of Kellogg, Idaho and brother-in-law Jim Meyers (Katherine) of New Orleans; his nieces and nephews, Mike Crnkovich (Kelly), Frank Crnkovich (Cherrie), Cindy Crow (Larry), Mary Crnkovich, Kenny Peterson (Susan), Paul Crnkovich, Kay Sherman (Warren), Julie Crnkovich, Kathy Crnkovich (Shelly), Bobbie Crnkovich Smith (Perry) and Laura Spalla (Tom) and many other nieces and nephews.
Joe was raised in Mullan, Idaho and educated in the Mullan School District.
Joe was a United States Marine and served his country honorably for two terms; August 1946 to March 1948 and February 1951 to November 1952 (Korean War). After the Marines, Joe moved to Lake Tahoe and had a very successful career as a Casino Executive at Harvey’s for over 32 years. Joe moved back to the Pacific Northwest in the early-2000’s and moved back to the Silver Valley in 2016.
Joe loved reminiscing about the Silver Valley and could tell you anything you wanted to know about Mullan, Idaho and Wallace, Idaho; he was a wealth of knowledge; a joy to talk with and a true gentleman. He loved his family and truly enjoyed hearing about and talking with his many nieces and nephews. He was the best brother, Uncle, and friend; a true class act.
