| January 29, 2020 4:25 PM

The Directors of The Frank A. Morbeck Community Foundation, Inc. are pleased to announce that the Foundation is receiving applications for grants and awards for calendar year 2020. The deadline for submitting applications is March 1, 2020.

The Directors of the Foundation will meet in March and act on the grant applications and it is anticipated the Foundation will announce its grant selections in April 2020.

The Foundation is an Idaho non-profit corporation that was created by Frank A. Morbeck to benefit the quality of life in and throughout the community and surrounding area of Wallace, Idaho, by fostering and enhancing charitable giving and philanthropic purposes. Mr. Morbeck passed away in May of 2000 at the age of 78. He left the majority of his estate to the Foundation. Mr. Morbeck strongly believed that the future of any community was its youth and his purpose in forming the Foundation was to provide a means upon which the community and its youth could enjoy the benefits of his years of investing in the community.

The Foundation will accept grant applications until March 1, 2020, for funding requests in the following categories:

Youth. The Foundation will provide funding assistance to foster, develop, and encourage participation of Wallace area youth (including all youth within the boundaries of Wallace School District No. 393) in recreational, athletic, academic or learning programs.

Community. The Foundation will also provide funding for community organizations located in the Wallace community.

It is up to the Directors of the Foundation to select recipients of any grants or awards made by the Foundation. The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors, all of whom are from the Wallace community. All grants and awards will be made at the discretion of the Directors, and the awards are derived from the income and earnings generated by the Foundation.

Since the Foundation began awarding Grants and scholarships in 2001, over $2.7 million has been awarded to the community and students. The Foundation is committed to doing all it can to meet the needs of the Wallace community. Mr. Morbeck specified awards are only to be made which benefit the Wallace community and its youth.
