Summertime has come to Silver!

OSBURN — The familiar and welcome sight of downhill mountain bikers has been dotting the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes over the last few weeks.

Which can mean only one thing…

Silver Mountain is open for the summer!

After being forced to end its ski season early due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Silver Mountain officially opened its wildly popular mountain bike season and despite everything going on in the world, all indications are that it’s going to be another great summer season at Silver.

Silver Mountain’s marketing coordinator and Chief Vibes Officer Gus Colburn stopped by the News-Press office for this week’s SNP Now! Podcast interview.

“We were definitely happy to invite people back to enjoy the mountain,” Colburn said. “It was good to see people out there having fun, a full parking lot, and to have our staff back.”

The bike park has become a major attraction for Silver Mountain, and despite some of the early events being canceled, including the North American Enduro Cup and the motocross event put on by Stix and Stones, there is a lot of excitement from the guests about getting up on the mountain.

“I think a big reason for that is that people are just ready to get outside,” Colburn said. “We have some new rebuilds on trails, we did have some of our early events get canceled, but they’ll be back, just not this year.”

Silver Mountain’s Ride and Dine is coming back and will be starting up in July, where guests can ride the gondola, grab a bite to eat at the top and then enjoy some live music on top of the mountain.

During the interview it became clear that above all, Colburn and Silver Mountain as a whole is happy to be getting back to some semblance of normalcy.

“It’s been stressful, we literally had to have it listed out on our website with each individual area of the resort being covered with their individual policies for both our guests and employees safety,” Colburn said. “The coronavirus threw off our vibes a little bit, but they’re coming back slowly but surely.”
