KSD to close schools

| March 16, 2020 4:29 PM

Press Release from Kellogg School District, 3/16/2020, 2 p.m.

KELLOGG –– The Kellogg School District will close all schools beginning Wednesday, March 18, and remain closed through Spring Break. School officials will monitor local, regional, and national conditions to make decisions about re-opening on Monday, April 6. We ask that if parents are comfortable sending their children on Tuesday, March 17, please have students in attendance. We will inform students about plans for providing instruction materials and food services.

Our closure decisions were made with many factors in mind; however, at this point there are NO verified cases of Covid-19 through Panhandle Health District. Instead, our decisions are based on lowered attendance due to prevention measures. As we navigate the hourly changing conditions, we are working to make the most prudent decisions based upon communication from health agencies and our state leaders.

Although it is extremely difficult to replicate classroom instruction, efforts will be made to continue instruction through alternate formats. Teachers will be working from home to support students.

Meals will be provided through local drop off sites from school buses on Monday, March 23. Information will be sent home on Tuesday and available on our district website for specific times and locations. We will work diligently to adhere to social distancing guidelines while recognizing many of our students rely upon this source for nourishment.

Because there is much misinformation posted on social media, we will continue to monitor reliable sources. Please look for the facts and make the best decisions you must make for your families and loved ones.

We are taking these measures to reduce the impact on our community and hope that our efforts will be supported by our staff, students, and families to reduce the contact they each have with other individuals. We are all in this together and face an uncertain future. The Kellogg School District Staff pledges to do our part to support our students while paying attention to the well-being of all people.
